While providing short-term cover as acting editor of one of the UK’s best-selling interiors magazines, I was responsible for guiding the team through the busy Christmas period, creating covers and signing off pages. The role demonstrated my ability to quickly immerse myself in a variety of subject matters and confidently lead creative teams.

Editing this market-leading sewing title involved commissioning fresh, engaging features and inspiring sewing projects for over 20,000 monthly readers. As well as collaborating with contributors and managing a team, I implemented a comprehensive diversity and inclusion strategy and worked with senior management to update inclusion policies across the Immediate craft portfolio.

I edited Mollie Makes for two years before taking over as publisher after returning from maternity leave in 2018. It gave me valuable experience in driving the commercial aims and financial performance of one of the craft sector’s best-loved brands. The role also involved publishing the brand’s then-website, molliemakes.com, which regularly saw over 100,000 monthly visitors.

I was a regular columnist for mindfulness and lifestyle magazine, In the Moment, writing monthly pieces on the mindfulness benefits of creative practise.

I published the Inspired By Craft bookazine series, which included launching the Mollie Makes Big Book of Paper Inspiration. This innovative product combined craft projects with art materials and project papers to cut out and use.

As publisher of the Get into Craft bookazine series, I worked alongside editorial teams to decide commercially successful titles to produce, including top seller, Mollie Makes Social Media.

After two years as production editor on leading monthly wedding title Perfect Wedding, I became a regular freelance writer for the magazine, writing features and liaising with brides and photographers to source and write real-life wedding stories.

I was launch editor of Wedding Day Venues magazine, working with the art editor and freelance writers to commission content, plan photoshoots and lead the production process. At the time, I was also digital editor of the Perfect Wedding website, creating content strategies and analysing performance.
